+SocialGood Young Leaders Are Forwarding the SDGs Worldwide
These three leaders are taking the reigns and creating a better world for us all.
Today, the world is home to 1.8 billion young people. This generation of young people is the largest and most connected in global history, “uniquely placed to mobilize their collective strength to achieve the SDGs, to establish dialogue and build partnerships across countries and all sectors of social life — from politics to business, academia and civil society.”
International Youth Day, which occurs annually on August 12th, works to celebrate the achievements of young people, understand the problems they face, and collaborate on solutions for their generation and beyond.
Young people are part of the global mission to create a better world by the year 2030. Read on to learn about three leaders who are working with the United Nations and taking the Global Goals into their own hands.
Emmanuel Nyame, Ghana
“ For so many years as a young person who got exposed to the realities of having to run a business and leverage on networks to create maximum impact in my community, I can only say that I am privileged. However, there are over 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world who are yet to discover themselves mainly because they may not have been presented with the opportunities that I had when I was young.”
“Nothing is impossible, but it is up to us to consciously make an effort to ensure that young people are given the best of opportunities to rise and become the control of their dreams, desires and aspirations of a better future for themselves, family and the community within which they grew.”
“I am constantly involved in providing educational opportunities to release pressure and tension from young people to enable them acquire all the necessary skills they need to be truly unique and to draw more interest in the Global Goals. Jose Arrieta, Peru
“Young people are one of the main assets of change to deal with the problems of the world. To achieve the 2030 Agenda in our country, we need the commitment and action of all young people to make it happen. The way young people can contribute is to create awareness of the SDGs in their communities and through social networks”.
Jose is hosting an event for 200 young students from universities and public and private institutes in Peru to to strengthen the commitment of young leaders within the country, as well as to inspire them to develop as leaders, motivating them to become aware of the importance of the SDGs and achieve the 2030 Agenda in Peru.

Abraham Ologundudu, Nigeria:
“My Name is Abraham Ologundudu — some people call me The Digital Leader. I am the Co-Founder of SocialGood Lagos and Executive Director of The Leverage Africa. I am leading on the SDGs by developing programs and platforms that bridges the gap in leadership & technology for the socio-economic development of rural and urban communities.”
“On one hand, at SocialGood Lagos I am building connecting platforms for young leaders and social innovators to dialogue and collaborate on ideas and solutions that will hatch technological solutions and policies for improving quality of living in Africa. On the other hand, at The Leverage Africa, I am building an ecosystem at that serves as a support structure for the personal growth and leadership development of young innovators.”
“I believe young people are key stakeholders in the implementation of the SDGs. With over 200 million youths aged between 15 and 24 in Africa and 20 targets across six SDGs strongly focused on youth, if youth participation is not prioritised, then who are the goals for?”
“It’s not just about numbers our energy, broad connectivity through the innovative use of technology gives us the advantage to mobilise our peers and communities at all levels to take action towards the SDGs.”
