The Social Good Summit examines the impact of technology and new media on social good initiatives around the world. Held annually during UNGA Week, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders and grassroots activists to discuss solutions for the greatest challenges of our time. Our theme, #2030NOW, asks the question, “What type of world do I want to live in by the year 2030?” During the Social Good Summit, global citizens around the world unite to unlock the potential of technology to make the world a better place.

Past speakers have included 47th U.S. vice president Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, Chelsea Handler, Demi Lovato, Malala Yousafzai and 45th U.S. vice president Al Gore. Check out this year’s official website to learn more!

Global meetups play an integral part in the summit. Along with the main event in New York City, people convene around the world to take part in the global discussion about how communities are using the digital tools of today to build a brighter future. Last year #2030Now reached over 105 million people in 113 countries worldwide.

Hosting a meetup enables you to break through geographical barriers, leverage your connections, and share your vision for #2030NOW with the rest of the world. See highlights of the conversation and explore past meetups here.

Follow these steps to host your own meetup:

1. Choose a format. Every #2030Now conversation is important, no matter how big or how small. Share your voice with a Twitter chat, a Facebook Live, a live screening of the New York Social Good Summit, or host your own #2030Now panel. These examples from past years will give you an idea:

Small event: Social Good Summit Meetup in Gaza

Medium event: Social Good Summit Meetup in South Africa

Large event: Social Good Summit Meetup in the Philippines

2. Fill out this form. Once you decide when and where your event is going to take place, fill out our form. Sharing your information with the +SocialGood team allows us to add your event to our platform and to include it in our global #2030Now coverage.

3. Take your meetup to the global stage. We will work to promote your meetup around the world. We recommend that all Social Good Summit meetups be available to the broader public via social media, either through live streaming, live tweeting, posting, pinning, or webcasting.

4. Report back. Fill out our post-event survey, with so much going on, it can be hard for our team to catch every exciting thing your meetup does. You can share with us you most exciting pictures, quotes, or moments by emailing arosenthal@unfoundation.org.

We are excited to see how you add to the conversation!
