How Businesses Can Save the World
Join a global conversation in support of sustainable business on Tuesday, November 6, at 4pm EDT.
In 2017, we’ve witnessed devastating disasters in almost every corner of the globe: rampant wildfires across North America, intense hurricanes in the Atlantic, searing heat waves in south Asia, and so much more. From more frequent and severe weather to rising sea levels, it’s clear we’re feeling the effects of climate change. At the same time, we’ve seen a new wave of bold climate commitments from cities, states, businesses, universities and citizens everywhere.
Put simply, 2017 has been an unprecedented year for climate change. And it’s clear that the need for accelerated action has never been greater.
The UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn (COP23), to be held November 6–17, represents the next critical step toward bringing the goals of Paris to life. With a new spotlight on sub-national climate action, incoming COP23 President and Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama of Fiji has called upon a “Grand Coalition” of governments at every level, civil society, the private sector, and individuals to collectively accelerate momentum.
That’s why this November we will be supporting #Uniting4Climate to advance climate action further, faster, together.
We need every citizen and sector to stand up against climate change. Businesses and the private sector, with their large resources and potential impact, play a special role in this fight. That’s why +SocialGood is hosting a Twitter chat on the role of businesses in climate action as a part of the #Uniting4Climate Global Digital Surge on November 6. This chat will explore the businesses that are leading the way and how citizens can support further action.
Join us on November 6 from 4pm-5pm EDT to explore questions including:
- Why is it important to include businesses in global climate action?
- Why should the private sector care about climate change?
- Who are the businesses leading the way in the fight against climate change?
- How can citizens support companies that engage in climate action?
Use #Uniting4Climate during the chat and throughout the day to join a global movement for climate action.
